Graphite in lamellar form in grey cast iron

The material used for the manufacture of cast iron sewage pipes and fittings is cast iron with lamellar graphite, grey cast iron GG as per EN 1561 - type at least EN-GJL-150 - an iron carbon alloy with a high graphite quota, which is integrated in lamella form and finely distributed within the material. This structure, typical for Düker, gives the material a high stability, wear resistance, temperature and fire resistance, excellent corrosion resistance (as compared with steel) and a high damping capacity. Düker cast iron sewage pipes distinguish themselves by their robustness, durability, fire resistance and noiseless use - even without special insulation and sound damping measures.

Düker is the only company to manufacture humbles cast iron sewage pipes and fittings in Germany. The works are in Karlstadt/Main in Northern Bavaria. The pipe production applies the centrifugal casting procedure. The liquid cast iron is poured into a pipe-shaped mould, which rotates rapidly around its longitudinal axis. This rotation makes the cast iron spread very evenly on the inside walls of the mould, and after cooling the result is a pipe with extremely smooth inside surfaces and equal wall thickness on its whole length. Fittings are cast in so-called dead moulds made of molding sand and core sand.
